Schreiber (sbs) It's emphasized here explicitly that "Nathan" was working previously as a tribute band of "Genesis", "Pink Floyd", and "Supertramp", but if you, like me, already had enough of this never-ending 70's tribute stuff - don't you worry. There aren't too many remnants of the band's origins present in this recording. Yes, it's clean symphonic rock with undeniable influences from the old pioneers, but on the bottom line, "Era" proceeds more distinctly along the lines of generic "Rock progressivo in Italia". Favorite track: L'Ombra del Falco.

Born as a tribute band of Genesis, Pink Floyd and Supertramp, the Ligurian Nathan debuted on AMS Records with "Nebulosa" in 2016, a surprising album, the result of a real revolution within the band that led them to compose only original songs. But the group's inspiration has not been confined to the debut record, and "Era" is here to fully demonstrate that, a further step forward in comparison to the previous work.

Nathan's official line-up, in addition to the main trio consisting of Piergiorgio Abba (keyboards), Bruno Lugaro (voice) and Fabio Sanfilippo (drums), now sees Mauro Brunzu as the official bass player, and once again makes of additional contributions by Monica Giovannini (choirs, backing vocals) and Daniele Ferro (guitars), the latter author in particular of beautiful solos that further enrich each song.

To the initial revolution, now an evolution follows; noteworthy improvements can in fact be highlighted on several aspects: songwriting, consistency and clarity of sound, production (always taken care by keyboardist Piergiorgio Abba) for a release that, starting from a base of symphonic progressive rock flows into a solid modern and personal heavy-prog. The past is now behind, for Nathan a new "Era" begins!

Nati come tribute band di Genesis, Pink Floyd e Supertramp, i liguri Nathan hanno esordito su AMS Records con “Nebulosa” nel 2016, un disco sorprendente, frutto di una vera e propria rivoluzione in seno alla band che li ha portati a comporre esclusivamente brani originali. Ma l’ispirazione non è rimasta confinata al solo debutto, e lo dimostra pienamente “Era”, ulteriore passo in avanti rispetto al precedente lavoro.

La line-up ufficiale, oltre al trio principale composto da Piergiorgio Abba (tastiere), Bruno Lugaro (voce) e Fabio Sanfilippo (batteria), vede ora l’ingresso in pianta stabile di Mauro Brunzu (basso), e si avvale nuovamente dei contributi di Monica Giovannini ai cori e Daniele Ferro alle chitarre, quest’ultimo in particolare autore di bellissimi assoli di chitarra che impreziosiscono ulteriormente ogni brano.

Alla rivoluzione segue ora un’evoluzione; notevoli miglioramenti si evidenziano infatti su diversi fronti: songwriting, compattezza e nitidezza del suono, produzione (sempre a cura del tastierista Piergiorgio Abba), per un disco che da una base di progressive rock sinfonico sfocia in un heavy-prog moderno personale e di forte impatto. Il passato è ormai alle spalle, per i Nathan ha inizio una nuova “Era”!

When you like your prog to be more beautiful and/or accessible than prog-proggy, than this is for you! Melodic as hell and yes, Peter Falconer is quite a singer! That wouldn't go half the way without the solid songs of Pat Sanders. A great combination of skills ;-) Carsten Pieper

This might be the least folky of the Wobbler releases and I wasn't sure about it at all. After a few listens however I'm loving the inventiveness and the endless melodies, all driven along by Kristian Hultgren's wonderful percussive bass. PartTimeZombie
